FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 gallon pecans (5 lb. pkg.)
2 lbs. white raisins
3/4 lb. candied cherries (red & green)
1/2 dozen eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 box dates
2 1/2 c. sugar

Mix eggs (with fork), butter and sugar. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Add fruit and nuts. Cook at 400 degrees in a large roaster pan. Stir every 5 minutes. It takes from 30 to 40 minutes to cook. When shine leaves batter, pack in greased molds while still hot. Paint tops with white Karo syrup that has been brought to a boil. Decorate with fruit and nuts.
