PUMPKIN MUFFINS 
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. pumpkin
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnut or pecans)

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg in large bowl. Cut into dry mixture the shortening. Combine milk, egg, and pumpkin; add to dry mixture and mix until moistened. Add nuts. Fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full. Sprinkle with a little extra sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 12 large muffins.
