Used to get a dish at "Kellys" on Oahu in HI back in the late 60's name Crispy Gau Chee Mein. Think these would be great as the topping for the noodles. Anyone else ever heard of it?

Yes we order that first on our list when we go to eat Chinese food, it's a must have but it comes with only 4 pieces, so we make a side order of the crispy gau gee.

I remember getting crispy gau gee mein at Kelly's in Oahu, HI. Loved the place and the dish. Sorry to hear Kelly's is no longer there. It was a favorite of the locals and military. So-o-o good!

Crispy gau gee mein is served in many Hawaii Chinese restaurants. They also make a great appetizer dipped in a sauce of shoyu and hot mustard or plum sauce. It's the one food I miss most on the mainland.

I remember eating this at Cathay Inn Chinese Restaurant in Waianae. My whole family would be around a big table and Crispy gau gee mein would be one of many dishes on the table. I recall watching the waitresses making the gau gee and won tons while waiting for our food to come to our table. Never thought that I would grow up and find myself making these, because I live in Texas now and can't find them here. Such a great memory and I love making these for everyone.
