HOMEMADE YEAST BISCUITS 
1 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. warm water
5 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
5 c. plain flour
2 c. buttermilk

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Combine baking powder, salt, soda, and flour. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk, sugar, and yeast mixture. Knead the dough slightly. Put in covered bowl and refrigerate until chilled. Roll out dough and cut. Bake biscuits very slowly at about 200 degrees until golden brown. Dough may be stored in refrigerator for several days.
