SPANISH RICE | |
1 c. uncooked rice (may use white or brown) 2 tbsp. butter 1 lb. ground beef 1 med. onion, diced 1 lg. can tomatoes (2 1/2 size) 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. celery salt 1 heaping tsp. sugar 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese, mild Cook rice as directed on box. I prefer the slow cook to Minute. Put in colander to drain and fluff. Fry meat and onion in butter. Drain off excess grease. Add tomatoes (quartered) and other ingredients. Cook slowly 15 minutes. Add cheese and rice and put in casserole. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 1 hour. |
