NUTMEG LOGS | |
1 c. soft butter 2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 tsp. rum extract 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 3 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. salt Frosting Cream butter with flavors; gradually beat in sugar. Blend in egg. In another bowl combine sifted flour, nutmeg and salt, then add to butter mixture and mix well. Shape pieces of dough on sugared board into log rolls 1/2 inch in diameter. Cut in 3 inch lengths and put on buttered cookie sheets. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 12-15 minutes. Cool. Spread frosting n top and sides of cookies. Mark with tines of fork to resemble bark. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg. Makes about 72. |
