BANANA CAKE 
2/3 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1 c. mashed bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 egg whites
1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda

Dissolve hot water and baking soda together. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and mashed bananas. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add with hot water mixture. Fold in egg whites, beaten stiff.

Bake in a 350°F oven for about 35 minutes in an 8 x 12-inch pan.
