EASY BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
1 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening (or butter)
1/2 c. buttermilk (or milk)

Combine flour and baking powder, cut in shortening or butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk or milk and mix well. Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead lightly 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness, cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on lightly greased baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yield: about 6 biscuits.
