EASY CARAMELS 
1 c. butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. corn syrup
1 (14 oz.) can condensed sweetened milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Melt butter in large saucepan. Stir in sugar and salt. Add corn syrup and sweetened condensed milk. Over medium heat bring to a boil stirring constantly and cook to 248 degrees F. while stirring. It should turn a caramel color. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into a 9x13 inch greased pan. Let cool until it can be handled and cut into squares.
