FRENCH MUFFINS 
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
6 tbsp. butter, melted

Combine half the sugar, shortening and egg in bowl; cream well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fill 12 greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.

Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins and dip top into melted butter, then roll in sugar mixture until coated. Serve warm.
