SPICY AUTUMN HAM 
1 tbsp. whole cloves
4 to 5 lb. picnic ham
2 to 3 qts. apple cider
2 sticks cinnamon

Insert cloves into fat layer of ham. In Dutch oven, add ham, cider to cover, allspice, and cinnamon sticks. Cover; simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours until tender. Remove ham to platter. Thicken 2 1/2 cups stock and juice with 2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water. Heat until mixture comes to a boil and thickens, stirring constantly. Serve over sliced ham.
