BEAN AND HAM SOUP 
1 lb. dry Great Northern beans
2 quarts cold water (8 cups)
1/4 lb. bacon or 1/2 lb. smoked ham, diced
2 medium onions, chopped
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper

Combine all ingredients in a crock-pot and stir well. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 to 6 hours.

Serve with corn bread muffins.

Serves 8.
