SUPER BAKED BEANS | |
1 lb. hamburger 1 tbsp. baking soda 2 c. sm. white beans 2 sliced yellow onions 2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans tomato soup 2/3 to 3/4 c. brown sugar Minced garlic 1 soup can water 1 soup can dry red wine Dash of Worcestershire sauce Soak beans overnight, then bring to a boil with baking soda. Drain and rinse, then boil in plain water 15-30 minutes. Fry meat and crumble. Drain fat, then mix with drained beans. Put half of mixture in 3-quart Dutch oven. Cover with half of onion slices and brown sugar, salt and pepper. Repeat. Combine liquids and pour over beans. Cover and bake at 300 to 325 degrees for 6-8 hours. Slow baked is best. Flavor is even much better the next day. |
