JAN HAGEL - SUGAR COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, separated
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. almonds, sliced

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream together butter, butter, and sugar; beat in egg yolk. Sift together flour and cinnamon; add to first mixture. If dough is too thick, add a few drops of water. Place half the dough in middle of cookie sheet, flatten. Place a sheet of waxed paper over the dough and roll very thin. Remove the paper; brush dough with slightly beaten egg white; sprinkle with almonds. Press almonds into dough. Repeat with other half of dough. Bake for 25 minutes. Cut immediately into bars and from cookie sheet. Use 2 (14 x 16 inch) cookie sheets.
