WHOOPIE PIE 
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. cocoa

Sift flour, measure and mix with baking powder, soda and salt. Sift again. Cream shortening and add sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add vanilla and well-beaten eggs. Beat until fluffy. Beat in flour mixture alternating with sour milk. Mix cocoa and hot water to form a smooth paste. Beat into batter. Bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes. Drop by spoonfuls on greased baking sheet. (If you have no sour milk, use 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vinegar in 1/2 cup regular milk.)

WHOOPIE PIE FILLING:

2 1/2 tsp. flour
1/2 c. milk

Shake together in covered jar to form smooth paste before cooking. Stir while cooking. Let cool. 1/2 c. sugar Pinch of salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 heaping tsp. marshmallow fluff

Cream shortening with sugar, use mixer. Add vanilla and salt. Beat. Pour flour and milk mixture into this and beat until right consistency, add marshmallow fluff. Match pies and put together with filling. Wrap each in wax paper.
