DOVER CAKE 
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. mace (spice)
1 c. butter, softened
1 (1 lb.) pkg. powdered sugar (approx. 3 3/4 c. unsifted)
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. milk

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and mace into a bowl; set aside. Cream butter and powdered sugar together, adding the sugar gradually. Mix until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Combine the milk and vanilla and add alternately with the dry ingredients. Mix until well blended. Pour into a well greased and floured angel food pan.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until done. Frost with your favorite butter frosting. Makes 1 (10") tube cake.
