SARDI'S PASTRY 
1/2 c. soft butter
8 tsp. granulated sugar
2/3 c. soft shortening
3 1/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cold water

1. In large bowl, with mixing fork, beat butter with sugar until creamy; then blend this mixture well with soft shortening.

2. Combine flour and salt; with fork, blend with butter mixture.

3. With fork, gradually stir in water until mixture cleans side of bowl. Then, on lightly floured surface, knead dough until just well mixed.
