KAHLUA-APPLE PIE 
Preparation time: 25 minutes. Baking time: 50 to 55 minutes. Oven temperature: 425 degrees and 350 degrees. Serves: 8 to 10. (One 9-inch pie.)

CRUST:

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. granulated sugar
Dash of salt
1/4 c. water
2/3 c. shortening or butter
2 tbsp. melted butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans

FILLING:

6 lg. cooking apples, peeled, sliced
1/4 c. Kahlua liqueur
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. butter
Melted butter & sugar

1. Make pie crust. Measure 1/3 cup flour and blend into a paste with 1/4 cup water. Combine remaining flour, sugar and salt. Cut in the shortening.

2. Turn in the flour paste and form into a dough.

3. Roll out the bottom crust. Spread with melted butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans.

4. Combine the apples, Kahlua liqueur, brown sugar and flour.

5. Turn into pie shell. Dot with butter.

6. Roll out remaining crust. Cut into strips. Arrange in lattice over filling. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.

7. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degrees. Continue to bake 40 to 45 minutes or until golden and tender.

8. Cool slightly. Serve warm for best flavor.

TIPS: Some varieties of good cooking apples are Rhode Island, Greening, Pippin, Gravenstein, Rome and Stayman-Winesap.
