BUTTERY OATMEAL BREADSTICKS 
3 c. flour (divided)
1 pkg. yeast
1 1/4 c. water
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. quick cooking oatmeal

Mix together 1 1/2 cups flour and 1 package yeast. Heat together water, shortening, sugar and salt (just until warm). Stir to melt shortening. Beat yeast mixture and water mixture together with hand mixer (1/2 minutes on low speed and 1 1/2 minutes on high speed).

By hand add 1 1/2 cups flour and the oatmeal. Cover and let rise until double. Punch down and let rise for 10 minutes. Shape into 24 sticks, 1/2 inch thick. Place on greased baking sheet and let rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees until golden. Brush with butter. Freezes well.
