NO EGG SPICE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
Pinch salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. water

NUTMEG SAUCE:

1 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Combine first 8 ingredients in a saucepan and boil five (5) minutes. Remove from heat and stir in flour, baking powder and soda dissolved in the tablespoon of water. Mix well. Spread into a greased 8x8 pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Meanwhile, combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium low heat until thickened. Best when served warm.
