YEAST BREAD | |
2 c. warm water 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. oil 1 egg 6 1/2 to 7 c. sifted flour Poppy or sesame seeds, if desired Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, oil, and egg. Mix in half of the flour and stir until smooth. Add remaining flour. Knead. Smooth into a ball and place into a greased bowl. Let rise. Then work down, shape into 2 loaves. (Braided loaves are especially attractive.) Let rise. Sprinkle tops with poppy or sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. |
