GRANNY HUGHES' SOUR CREAM CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
8 med. or 6 lg. eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 (8 oz.) sour cream
1 tbsp. vanilla flavoring

Cream Crisco and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs (one at a time). Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Add sour cream and flavoring. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done. Cover with aluminum foil for first hour to prevent over browning, uncover last 30 minutes. Use tube pan and you can add an additional teaspoon of lemon, almond or other flavoring if desired.
