OLD-TYME APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk
6 baking apples
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. butter
Milk

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt into bowl; cut in shortening until crumbs form. Stir in milk; mix until soft dough is formed. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Roll into 1/8" thickness. Cut into 6 squares.

Core and pare apples. Place 1 on each square. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle in center of each apple. Add 1/2 teaspoon butter to each. Moisten edges of dough; press corners together over top of apples. Brush with milk. Place in greased 13"x9"x2" baking pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until crust is golden and apples are tender. Serve with Sweet Sour Sauce (recipe follows). Makes 6 servings.
