No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

 H Libby says:
I love this recipe, but I always cut the amount of oats in half. I also add the vanilla and peanut butter at the same time I add the oats... I never boil the vanilla or peanut butter.

I agree... add the peanut butter and vanilla at the end when you stir in the oatmeal. Also, I've used only quick oats and boiled about 1 minute maybe 1.5 minutes. They are a family favorite all year!

I always spoon the chocolate into mini cones (regular cones work to). It is an awesome kids treat and perfect Christmas desert. Try them frozen as well.

Thank you so much for this recipe. I recall making this recipe as a teenager, one of my Mom's favorite recipes and I lost it over the years.

The way I make them is basically with the exact same ingredients, but I just boil the cocoa, milk, butter, sugar for one minute then add the rest of the ingredients.. I never have boiled the peanut butter..

I substituted maple syrup for vanilla, so we'll see. Just made them.
