SWEET & SOUR CREAM BEANS & CARROTS | |
1 c. carrots, chopped 3/4 c. water 1 (9 oz.) pkg. frozen cut green beans 2 slices bacon 1 med. onion, coarsely chopped 1 med. apple (peeled, cored, and cut into wedges) 2 tbsp. vinegar 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt Combine carrots and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Add green beans, return to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain and set aside. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon and set aside. Saute' onion in drippings until tender. Stir in apple, vinegar, sugar and salt. Cover and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until apple is tender. Stir in green bean mixture, cook until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle with bacon. |
