GINGERBREAD MEN | |
1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. molasses 1 egg 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon Cream together shortening, sugar and molasses until well blended. Add 1 egg. Stir in dry ingredients. When dough is well blended, wrap in waxed paper. Chill for at least 1 hour. On floured board, roll chilled dough 1/4 inch thick. Use raisins or cinnamon candies for eyes and buttons. These make great tree ornaments. Before baking, make a hole at top of cookie large enough for ribbon or thread. Tie bright ribbon around the neck and hang on tree, wreath, in a window or garland. |
