FIRST LAYER: 1 c. butter 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 egg 2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 (12 oz.) jar red raspberry jam Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour and salt together. Add slowly to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in vanilla. Butter sides only of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and spread with jam. SECOND LAYER: 1 egg 1 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter, melted 1 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. vanilla Mix egg and sugar together. Add the melted butter, nuts and vanilla. Drop mixture in small amounts over the jam and spread carefully. Be sure to cover entire layer. Return to 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into 1-inch squares. |
