PRIZE WINNING POUND CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 1/2 c. Crisco 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3/4 c. buttermilk 3 c. plain flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tbsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. rum flavoring or lemon flavoring Dash of mace or nutmeg Dash of rum, sherry, brandy, lemon (your choice of ONE) Cream together butter/Crisco. Add sugar, alternately with eggs. Alternate buttermilk, flour, baking powder, vanilla, flavoring and your choice of rum, sherry, etc. Place in COLD oven on middle shelf. Place on 350 degrees. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes. Do not open oven for 1 hour 15 minutes. This will burn top. Cover pound cake when removed from pan. Do not cut for at least 1 day. |
