AUNT NANCY'S EASY TORTILLA CHIP DIP | |
This has been my favorite dip since I was a kid and my aunt used to serve it at parties. I've been making it for years and it's always a hit. Very quick, easy and unique. I never see this specific recipe anywhere so thought I'd share. May be wrapped in plastic or foil and refrigerated until ready to use, taking out at least 1/2 hour before serving so cream cheese is scoopable. Don't be tempted to heat this, it is meant to be served cold/room temp. It's a unique flavor so I don't add or subtract any ingredients as it will drastically change the outcome. *I use reduced fat cream cheese for this out of personal preference and no one knows the difference. *Recipe easily halved if serving to fewer people. If having the recipe, I use a glass pie plate instead of a casserole dish. 2 (8 oz. ea.) blocks cream cheese or Neufchâtel, room temperature 1 (15-16 oz.) jar salsa (thicker salsas work best for this) 1 (8 oz.) block cheddar cheese, shredded (don't use pre-shredded) 1 (6 oz.) can black olives, drained & sliced (may use less to taste) Place both blocks of cream cheese in a large 9x13-inch casserole dish and spread evenly with a butter or frosting knife. Pour salsa evenly over cream cheese, spreading with the bottom of spoon if needed. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over salsa. Sprinkle sliced olives over cheese. Serve with tortilla chips for a party or get together. Submitted by: SueG |
