My family really enjoyed this dish, however I did make a few changes. I diced the onion and cooked it along with the seasoned ground beef. I used garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. I then peeled the potatoes and sliced them into quarter inch slices. I used non-stick cooking spray to coat the bottom of a large iron skillet, Layered potatoes, beef/onion, potatoes, beef/onion, added the diluted soup mixture, and then pats of butter on top. I covered it and baked it at 375°F for an hour and a half. Once the water from the soup evaporated out, I sprinkled shredded American cheese on top and replaced the lid until it melted. Delicious, I would love to make a breakfast version using sausage!

A great way of doing a meat and potato meal. I did find that one onion and 2 potatoes where all I needed to make this meal happen. My boyfriend and I really liked eating this! Thank you for posting. I can see why it is Steve's favorite. :)

This dish is even better if you add more layers. I add carrots, diced tomatoes, and a cup of peas on top! Yummy!

I thought this recipe looked rather bland, but decided to try it anyway. I also added garlic salt to the ground beef and cut up some onion to cook with the ground beef. To shorten the cooking time I sliced up potatoes and arranged them on a plate and stuck them in the microwave for 3 minutes and also heated the diluted soup before pouring it on top. I baked it at 375°F for 1 hr. Other then that I followed the recipe adding some grated cheese for the last 10 minutes. It was fantastic!! Great dish for a cool winter night!
