2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond flavoring
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream together shortening, sugars, eggs and flavorings. Add dry ingredients. Chill dough. Shape into walnut sized balls. Flatten each cookie with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees 10 minutes.
