SWEET AND SAVORY MEATBALLS 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. fine dry bread crumbs
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 sm. clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. shortening
1 can Golden mushroom soup
1/2 c. drained chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. soy sauce
Dash of pepper
Cooked rice

Mix beef, crumbs, onion, eggs, garlic and shape into 16 meatballs. In skillet brown meatballs in shortening. Pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients except rice. Cover, cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done. Stir now and then. Serve over rice.
