JEWISH SWEET-SOUR MEATBALLS 
2 lb. minced beef
3 oz. bread crumbs
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 eggs
Salt and pepper
5 tbsp. oil
2 onions, diced
1 c. of tomato juice with brown sugar and lemon juice mixture
1 bay leaf (optional)

Mix the beef, bread crumbs, garlic, eggs, salt and pepper together and form into 6 balls. Brown in hot oil and fry the onions in the same fat. Put the meatballs into a casserole with the fried onions and tomato juice mixture. Add the bay leaf. Roast the meatballs uncovered in a slow oven (275 degrees F.) or over low heat for about 45 minutes.
