WORLD CLASS BBQ RIBS 
5 lb. ribs (baby back or spare)
1 inch piece of fresh ginger root
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. catsup
3/4 c. soy sauce
3/4 c. oyster sauce (no substitute here!)

The day before the barbecue boil ribs in 5 quarts water for 1 hour. (Slice ginger root thinly and add to the boiling water.) In a LARGE bowl combine sugar, catsup, soy sauce and oyster sauce. Add boiled ribs and marinate overnight. Barbecue with continual basting for 20 minutes, turning ribs every 5 minutes.
