RED VELVET CAKE 
1 oz. red food coloring
3 tbsp. cocoa mix

Mix to paste.

1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix red food coloring and cocoa mix to a paste. Mix Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add paste. Add alternately flour and buttermilk. Add salt and vanilla. Mix vinegar and baking soda. Add to mix and stir. Pour into greased and lightly floured 8 or 9 inch round pans.

ICING:

4 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
Flour paste
1 tsp. vanilla

Shake flour and milk; cook until thick. Cool. Beat butter and Crisco exactly 4 minutes. Add sugar, flour paste and vanilla; beat 4 minutes.
