WALDORF RED VELVET CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 c. red food coloring
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. flour - sifted 2 or 3 times
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat 1 minute. Make a paste of cocoa and red food coloring. Add to creamed mixture. Add salt. Put vanilla in buttermilk and add slowly alternately with flour. Mix vinegar and soda and add. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool in refrigerator before frosting.

Frosting
1 c. milk
5 tbsp. flour

Cook together until thickened, then cool in refrigerator. Cream together: 1 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla

Slowly add flour and milk mixture. Frost cake and store in refrigerator.
