12 sheets phyllo pastry 3/4 c. butter, melted 1 1/2 c. slivered almonds 1 c. honey 2 c. water 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lay one sheet pastry on a greased pan. Brush with butter. Top with 1/4 cup almonds. Repeat process six times. Place remaining phyllo on top of first 6 after they have been brushed with butter. Bake in oven for 65 minutes. Combine honey, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour over pastry, cut and let syrup soak into pastry. |
