POT ROAST CHICKEN 
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
4 tbsp. shortening
1 med. onion
2 c. water
1 (4 to 5 lb.) stewing chicken, cut up

Melt shortening in a heavy skillet. Mix the first 3 ingredients in a heavy plastic or paper bag. Add chicken one piece at a time. Place well floured chicken in hot melted shortening, brown well on all sides. Add thin slices of onion and water. Cover and cook in slow oven (350 degrees) until tender.
