1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
5 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla

Mix brown sugar, butter and eggs. Add soda and cream of tarter. Add flour. Roll in small balls, press down with fork and bake until light brown. Makes large batch.
