2 1/4 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. maraschino cherries
2 1/2 c. crushed corn flakes
Extra cherries

Mix the shortening and sugar. Blend eggs, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Add to the first 2 ingredients. Add dates, nuts and cherries. Shape into balls, using 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Roll each ball into corn flakes and place on greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with 1/4 cherry. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
