WHOOPIE PIES 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
5 tbsp. cocoa (unsweetened)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
5 tbsp. shortening
1 egg

Mix until creamy and then add dry ingredients. Place a teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for about 5 minutes.

CREAM FILLING:

1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. flour

Cook until thick and smooth. Let cool 15 minutes. Add: 4 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla

Whip until creamy and spread between cakes.
