WHOOPIE PIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. oil
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
8 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
5 heaping tsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together brown sugar and oil. Add eggs and beat. Add 3 c. flour, 1 c. milk, 1/4 tsp. salt, baking soda, cocoa and 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla and mix well. Let batter stand for 1 hour. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375°F for 5 to 8 minutes. When cool, place 2 halves together with filling between.

To make filling, mix together 5 heaping tsp. flour and 1 c. milk. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cool. Add 1 c. sugar, shortening, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. vanilla and beat until fluffy. Spread between two cakes and wrap separately in wax paper.
