MOLASSES SNAPS 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. soft shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. light molasses
1 egg, unbeaten

Mix shortening, salt, cinnamon, ginger, brown sugar, molasses and egg until well blended. Mix flour and soda together and add to shortening mixture. Drop 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle granulated sugar/cinnamon mixture and press with bottom of a glass. Bake at 350 degrees 12 to 15 minutes.
