APPLE WALNUT SQUARES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. instant coffee
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/ tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2/3 c. undiluted evaporated low fat milk
3 c. (about 2 lg.) apples, finely diced, peeled green apples
1 c. chopped walnuts

Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Beat eggs, vanilla and coffee. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves together. Sift flour mixture and evaporated milk into egg mixture alternately, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Stir in apples and walnuts. Pour into waxed paper lined 13"x9"x2" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpicks inserted in center comes clean. Cool slightly. Cut into 15 squares. Serve warm with your favorite ice cream or whipped topping.
