HOME GROUND CORN BREAD | |
The shelled corn has to be ground by someone who has a grist mill and preferably a sifter also. After the corn meal has been made, you can take it home and make a very good pan of corn bread as follows: 2 c. corn meal 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. milk or buttermilk 1 egg Mix all ingredients together until well blended. Put about 3-4 tablespoons oil or lard in baking pan and heat until hot. Pour batter in hot grease and bake 15-20 minutes or until done at 450 degrees. |
