AUNT CHARLOTTE'S CHRISTMAS
COOKIES (Cut-out)
 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1/3 tsp. salt
4 c. flour (sift before measuring)
2 tsp. baking powder

Mix well. Put in refrigerator overnight. Take out a small portion at a time and roll thin on a slightly floured pastry board. Cut out with cookie cutters and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.

Dab cookies with slightly beaten egg and decorate with colored sugars. Be careful not to overbake or get sugar on baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until light brown (usually 6-8 minutes depending on oven).
