MAGIC WINDOW COOKIES | |
1 c. sugar 3/4 c. shortening (part butter, softened) 1 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. lemon extract 2 eggs 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1. Mix sugar, shortening, butter, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl. 2. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. 3. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. 4. Heat oven to 375 degrees. 5. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured area. 6. Cut into desired shapes and cut out areas into cookie shapes. 7. Bake 7-9 minutes or until cookies are very light brown. 8. Place cooled cookies on foil and make the following recipe. 1 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. light corn syrup 1/2 c. water 1 tsp. flavoring Food coloring A. Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a pan. B. Bring to a boil over medium heat until mixture reaches 300 degrees. C. Remove from heat and add flavoring and food coloring. 9. Carefully pour candy into open areas in cookies. |
