BASIC HOT ROLLS | |
3/4 c. milk 1/4 c. sugar 2 1/4 tsp. salt 4 1/2 tsp. shortening 3/4 c. warm water 2 pkgs. dry yeast 4 1/2 c. flour Scald milk. Add sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Measure into bowl the 3/4 cup water. Sprinkle in dry yeast. Let stand until dissolved. Stir and add to milk mixture 2 1/4 cups flour; beat until smooth. Add another 2 1/4 cups flour. Turn dough on lightly floured board and knead. Place in greased bowl to rise, covered, with towel for 45 minutes. Knead and shape and let rise until double in size. Bake 30 minutes at 425 degrees or until golden brown. |
