BASIC LIGHT ROLLS 
8 yeast cakes
2 c. warm water
4 tbsp. sugar
4 c. scalded milk
1 1/3 c. shortening
8 eggs, well beaten
16 (rounded) c. flour
Vanilla (opt.)
1 1/3 c. sugar
6 tsp. salt

Mix and let stand 20 minutes the yeast cakes, warm water and 4 tablespoons sugar. Add shortening and sugar to hot milk. Cool and add eggs, salt and yeast mixture. Add the flour. Beat well and cover. Let rise to double in bulk. Roll out into any shape.
