CAJUN CABBAGE WITH SMOKED
SAUSAGE
 
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. sweet paprika
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/$ tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. cayenne
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/8 tsp. dried basil

Mix above together.

2 tbsp. unsalted butter
2 onions, julienned
1/2 head cabbage, shredded
1/2 c. chicken broth (or bouillon)
1 bay leaf, halved
1 apple, julienned
1 1/2 tsp. dark brown sugar
1/2 lb. good smoked sausage, cut

Melt butter; saute onions over high heat. Add cabbage, 1/4 cup chicken stock, bay leaf and seasoning. Cook 5 minutes. Add apple and cook 15 minutes. Add sugar and remaining broth. Add sausage; cook until hot.

This was really quite delicious. I wasn't sure if we would like it & considered leaving out the apples & brown sugar but I'm glad that I prepared this recipe exactly as written & it turned out superb! We added some Frank's hot sauce to make it even spicier (we like it that way) but the mix of spices was really delish as written. I will make this again!
